About Me

I believe that, providing I am not wasting your valuable time and money during sessions, it could be helpful for you to know a little about me before making an appointment.

I have spent most of the last 30 years working in the fields of both education and the NHS. I have experienced first-hand many of the things’ clients come to see me for today such as grief/loss of a loved one, stress and anxiety both at work and at home, depression in its various forms and worked through periods when I suffered panic attacks and loss of confidence.

I spent many years trying to find ways to overcome these problems because they had a negative impact on every part of my life. I am not ashamed to say I have utilised seeing a therapist several times when things have been tough, in fact I see it as strength to ask for help. I found my way through difficult times with the therapists help, allowing me to have a better understanding of myself and my feelings which has made a big difference in how my life has progressed.

Becoming a counsellor was a natural path for me to follow and over the years I have attained certificates and diplomas for various modalities culminating in a bachelor’s degree with Honors in Person-centred counselling and I continue my professional development by constantly learning new skills to enhance my practice.

Drawing on my background in the NHS and as a high school counsellor, I strive to bring a thoughtful and empathetic perspective to my practice. My work includes having vast experience in supporting clients of all ages who are facing a wide range of challenges – from anxiety and depression, relationship struggles, complex trauma, working with neurodiverse clients, all forms of grief, gender identity and many other issues not listed.

I have a special interest and a great deal of experience in working with neurodivergent individuals welcoming adults and young people (from 11 years old) who are diagnosed or even self-diagnosed. We can do a thorough deep dive into your understanding of being a neurodivergent person which can help identify specific support areas and together we can collaboratively create a personalised plan focused on the tools and strategies you truly need, I can help you work with your brain and not against it.

I offer all clients short- or long-term therapy to suit your needs. I also offer counselling services to local employers for their individual staff members or groups; happy staff equals more productivity!!
